In 1998, the Temasek Informatics & IT School, then the School of IT and Applied Sciences, began its journey to explore more innovative ways of delivering its curriculum. Problem-Based Learning was highlighted as one of the key pedagogical methodologies to be adopted in delivering the curriculum.

During that first semester in 1998, one subject team ventured into using PBL. Since then, many more subject teams teaching the various Diploma subjects in the school have come to adopt PBL as a teaching and learning methodology.

With the school embarking on its new Academic Architecture in October 2007, subject teams in the school have also started to explore the use of PBL within the block teaching framework.
