Training
Recognising the fact that it is necessary for staff to be trained in various aspects of the PBL process so that positive outcomes of PBL can be achieved, the school collaborates with the TP Learning Academy in designing, planning and conducting appropriate workshops for PBL subject leaders and facilitators.
So far three runs of the PBL Foundation Programme have been conducted for Engineering staff in March 2006 and in March and April 2007. As part of the programme, staff are also engaged in action research on PBL issues and encouraged to share at staff learning forums. The issue of, “How can opportunities and feedback (formative assessment) be provided to improve student learning in content and process during PBL” was shared at the staff forum in August 2007. More groups will be coming forth to share.
Through the above training, Temasek Engineering School has fulfilled one of its major tasks and that is to ensure that all lecturers involved in facilitating PBL subjects would have a clear understanding of PBL and its implementation at the school level.
